Podiatry for Dulwich Hill patients at Hyper Health Marrickville
Podiatry at Hyper Health is delivered by Ray Nguyen, whose practice centres on thorough gait analysis and lower-limb assessment. Ray holds a Bachelor of Health Science and a Master of Podiatric Medicine, and has worked across hospitals, aged care and multidisciplinary allied health settings.
Appointments for Dulwich Hill patients are seen at our Marrickville clinic at Shop 1/20-22 Station St, open seven days. Because we also have chiropractors, physiotherapists and massage therapists on site, problems that turn out to sit above the foot do not require a separate referral and a three-week wait — we can bring a colleague in directly.
What an initial appointment involves:
- A history covering your symptoms, footwear, activity and any relevant medical conditions
- A physical assessment of joint range, strength, skin and circulation
- Gait analysis, walking and running where relevant
- A working diagnosis explained in plain terms, and what it means for you
- A treatment plan with a realistic timeframe, and the cost of anything recommended stated up front
We are registered for private health rebates with HICAPS on site, and we see NDIS participants — see our NDIS podiatry page for how that works.
Book podiatry at MarrickvilleWhat a diabetes foot check covers
A diabetic foot assessment tests three things: sensation, circulation and skin integrity.
Sensation is checked with monofilament and vibration testing, which detects peripheral neuropathy well before you would notice numbness. Circulation is assessed by pulse palpation and, where indicated, doppler. Skin and nail integrity is examined for callus, pressure areas, fissures and early ulceration.
The combination gives you a risk category and, more usefully, a specific plan — how often to be reviewed, what to check at home, and which changes warrant a call rather than waiting for the next appointment.
Why small problems matter more
Reduced sensation means an ill-fitting shoe or a small cut may not hurt. Reduced circulation means it heals slowly. Together they turn minor problems into serious ones, quietly.
That is the entire argument for routine review. Most diabetes-related foot complications are preventable, and prevention is almost entirely a matter of catching things early.
