What we offer
- Remedial massage — targeted soft tissue work for specific areas of pain, restriction or overload
- Sports and recovery massage — around training blocks, competition and heavy loading phases
- Deep tissue work — for persistent tightness that has not responded to lighter techniques
- Myofascial release — for restriction that spans regions rather than sitting in one muscle
- Relaxation massage — where the goal is downregulation rather than tissue change
If you are not sure which is appropriate, book remedial and say what you are dealing with. The therapist will adjust the approach to the presentation rather than working to a fixed script.
Massage as part of a plan, not instead of one
Massage does some things very well. It reduces perceived tightness, improves short-term range of motion, helps with recovery between training sessions, and downregulates a nervous system that has been running hot.
What it does not do on its own is resolve a problem that keeps recurring. If the same area tightens up every three weeks, the tightness is a symptom — usually of a strength deficit, a movement pattern or a load that exceeds current capacity.
That is where having chiropractic, physiotherapy and sports performance in the same building matters. Massage can be the treatment, or it can be the thing that makes the rehabilitation tolerable while the underlying cause is addressed. We will be straight with you about which one you are looking at.
For strength and team-sport athletes
A good part of our Wetherill Park caseload trains seriously — powerlifting, football, martial arts, and people fitting hard training around full-time work.
Recovery work for that group is timed around the training week rather than booked at random. Heavier, more aggressive soft tissue work sits well away from competition or a max effort session; lighter flushing work is more useful the day after.
Tell the therapist what your week looks like and what is coming up. It changes what they do.
Frequently asked questions
Can I claim massage on private health insurance?
Remedial massage is claimable with most funds if your extras cover includes it. HICAPS is available on site so the rebate is processed at your appointment. Relaxation massage is generally not claimable.
How often should I come?
It depends entirely on why you are coming. For an acute problem, more frequently at first and then tapering. For training recovery, aligned to your heaviest weeks. For general maintenance, whatever interval keeps you feeling good — there is no clinical requirement to come weekly.
Should massage hurt?
Effective soft tissue work is sometimes uncomfortable but should never be something you have to brace or hold your breath through. Pain that makes you tense up is counterproductive — tell your therapist and they will adjust the pressure.
Can I have massage on the same day as chiropractic or physio?
Yes, and it is often a good combination. Let us know when you book so appointments can be scheduled back to back.
